Time for action on Greenhouse Premier: Greens

"The Premier must take urgent action to slow WA's contribution to global warming", said Greens MLC Giz Watson.

"I urge the Premier to join the Greens, Liberals and Nationals in supporting a mandatory renewable energy target of 20% by 2020", she said.

"While the Premier's launch today of the final report of the Government's Greenhouse and Energy Taskforce is very welcome, the urgent implementation of the report's recommendations is what is needed", she said.

One of the report's key recommendations for a mandatory renewable energy target of 20% by 2020 has already been extensively debated in the Parliament and is clearly supported by all political parties in WA - except the ALP.

"The Premier must stand up to the industry lobbyists who are resisting change and take urgent action in the interest of ordinary West Australians and the environment", she said.
