Human Rights Consultation on Greens terms
Media Release, 3 May 2007
Greens WA spokesperson Giz Watson welcomed the Attorney General's long
awaited announcement of a Bill of Rights for WA.
"I am delighted that the Government has agreed to the Greens' and community's
insistence on full community consultation," Ms Watson said.
"The Greens will continue to work with the Government on what has been a
joint initiative towards better protection of human rights in WA.
"A community debate on human rights is essential and timely.
"The consultation must be adequately funded and include genuine consultation
with Aboriginal people and the remote and regional communities.
The Greens will work with the community to ensure the WA Bill
becomes an effective tool in protecting the human rights of all
Western Australian citizens."
