Greens welcome Corrective Services Advisory Council

The Greens welcome the establishment of a community advisory body to the Department of Corrective Services.

“I look forward to a new emphasis in Corrective Services on rehabilitation, re-socialisation and restorative justice,” said Giz Watson MLC.

“I am hopeful that this advisory council will provide sound advice to reduce recidivism and also reduce the unacceptably high rate of imprisonment in WA,” she said.

It is important that the Minister has recognised the knowledge and experience in this advisory council and that she will now get information directly from the community organisations that work with prisoners.
